"Distant Moon" | 36" x 48"

Distant Moon came from a place of instinct. Layered textures of electric green, deep teal, soft violet, and bold yellow pulse through the canvas like sound waves. It’s not about the moon itself...it’s about the feeling of it... distant, magnetic, just out of reach but always pulling you toward something more.

One-of-a-kind, painted on canvas, 36" x 48" size, hand-signed by JD Shultz. Delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity. Available in Mixed Media, original painting and Artist Proof.

Available Formats

Limited Editions

These are premium prints produced in limited quantities from the original artwork. They are signed by the artist and represent the closest expression to the original outside of a one-of-a-kind painting. The artist only signs and prints 75 pieces.

Mixed Media

Mixed media pieces begin with a high-resolution print of the original artwork on plexiglas. Each piece is then hand-embellished and painted, adding texture, depth, and subtle variation so no two are exactly the same.

The Process Behind the Work

Each artwork begins as an original painting by JD Shultz, created on canvas or plexiglass using layered acrylic techniques.

Plexiglass pieces are painted on the reverse side, building the image back-to-front to create depth, clarity, and a luminous finish.

Mixed media works are developed from the original painting and enhanced through layered materials and finishes — preserving the integrity of the original while adding dimension and presence.
