Songs in the French Quarter is rhythm frozen in time. Painted on reverse acrylic Plexiglas, this piece captures the raw, soulful energy of a street jam in New Orleans... that magic moment when the music spills into the air and time slows down. The layered color, movement, and mood pull you right into the scene... banjo, fiddle, guitar, washboard, brass, all played with grit and joy.
 
Painted on a 36" x 48" acrylic on plexiglas. The reverse-painted Plexiglas gives the image a luminous, electric quality...almost like sound turned into light. Every line and layer was painted backward, with intention, flow, and soul.
 
This is a one-of-a-kind original. Signed by JD Shultz and delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Process Behind the Work

Each artwork begins as an original painting by JD Shultz, created on canvas or plexiglass using layered acrylic techniques.

Plexiglass pieces are painted on the reverse side, building the image back-to-front to create depth, clarity, and a luminous finish.

Mixed media works are developed from the original painting and enhanced through layered materials and finishes — preserving the integrity of the original while adding dimension and presence.
